I Heart Shopping

Last Friday, I had an outing with Mei Zhi, Sandra and Daphne, whom I just met. The outing was pretty much dedicated to shopping. Yes, we were taking advantage of the Malaysian Mega Sales. So upon arrival at Queensbay Mall, we immediately hit it off and began our shopping spree.

You should have see the people in MNG who had to get in line just to make their way into the changing room. Pure madness. I don't recall having to queue up to get into the changing room. Sad. Okay, so we did more shopping and covered the entire mall which i'm no going to elaborate on.

The girls felt pretty bad coz they felt I was being dragged down along their shopping extravaganza. But I was like "Drag me down...drag me down!" If you haven't figured it out already from my previous posts, I LOVE SHOPPING. So when I told them that, they were like "Really? Great!"

I like shopping. That's the truth! I mainly shop for clothes because let's face it, most of the outlets in a mall are fashion stores. But I also look for books, tech gadgets, magazines, cds, shoes (I think that counts as fashion as well) and food....if there's such a thing as shopping for food.....but I guess you call that grocery shopping. Oh what the heck, I live to eat. So if there's ever such a thing as food shopping, i'm in!

Okay, so I think i've made it pretty clear that I like shopping. It's more than a past time. But I don't always end up with something in hand like last Friday when I only literaly only spent RM1 in Queensbay Mall for the parking fee. Yeah, I really wanted to buy the Summer issue of Nylon Guys magazine but they ran out of it. Why didn't I buy it the other day when I saw it...grrr.

As I was saying, I like shopping. I always try to shop only during promotions, sales or best-buy periods because, why pay retail when you can get the item at half-off? But more often than not I end up not purchasing anything because:
  • Most things are way too expensive.
  • I wanna save my money.
  • I don't need the item even if it's like super cheap (i've learnt my lesson from this one coz in the past, i've bought things which I didn't really really like or need but I only got coz it's cheap. And in the end it's like I don't even use it, making it a complete waste of money)
  • I wanna save my money ( I know i've said that before but...you gotta save money!)
  • The sales only apply to the crappy items.
  • There are no sales at all!
  • Sometimes, i'll start to think something like this: "Wah, the cost of this shirt can buy me a plate of Char Koay Teow everyday for one whole year!!!"

So that's why I don't buy that many things. I know you're probably thinking in a sarcastic tone: "Riiight..." But it's quite true. I don't shop a lot. I window shop a lot. I guess it's the illusion that whenever I go to a mall, I shop, which it completely untrue.

A penny saved is a penny earned.

Car Issues

First, there was the minor accident I encountered involving the stationary, unattended motorcycle. Then, my car battery decides to fail on me (FYI: It has been replaced with a new silver/calcium battery which requires no maintainence!). And now, the security alarm system suddenly turns beserk, causing what I can only describe as a security-system-malfunction-lockdown which unables me to start up the car at all, let alone drive out. Thus, leaving me car-less for the past week. Wonderful.

I think my car SERIOUSLY has issues with me.

In my opinion, I think it's all connected in some way. I guess the alarm malfunction was payback, done by the car gods high above, for me fleding the scene of the accident the other week. It's their joke telling me to be more responsible if I were to ever happen on a similar incident in the future *knock on wood*. So as you can imagine, my past week was pretty much a snooze-fest, being house-bound except for the occasional visit to Gurney Plaza. And even then, I wonder around aimlessly. In conclusion:
Karma's a bitch.

But since all good things must come to an end, so do bad things. Dad called the security alarm company people and they have already rectified the problem. But as expected, I had to fork out 30 ringgit for their services. As I said: Karma's a bitch.

Anyways, to cheer myself up, I went YouTubing and I found this video entitled 'Paris in Jail: The Music Video'. Hilarious lyrics! Check it out:

Evil by Interpol

Thanks to Yong Ming, a few people have been asking me "Is that a fingerprint recognition thingy I see on your new notebook?" And my answer is : I WISH! Unfortunately, it's just a bunch of useless stickers which comes with the notebook.

- see? They're just stickers, not for fingerprint recognition.

The cheapest Vaio I know that has fingerprint recognition is about 8000 ringgit.
And also, my Vaio does NOT have built-in camera if you're wondering. *frown*

Anyway, here is a music video of one of my favourite songs right now. The song's not really new but I just discovered the video on YouTube. The puppet is a little creepy when it starts to dance on the operating table, but the song's good...enjoy!

My New Toy

Okay, i'm already over the minor incident I had the other day. But then, just yesterday, my car battery decided to die on me. Well, I can't really blame it coz the battery is 2 and a half years old and (as I know it) that's pretty much the lifespan for car batteries. I think the car has serious problems with me...or maybe it's just a coincidence.

Anyway, I can't be too sad for too long coz...MY NEW NOTEBOOK IS HERE!!! YEAH! I got the Sony Vaio C Series. Well, actually my dad got it for me (his money, not mine. Thanks Dad!). The C Series is the cheaper range compared to the other Vaios. And let's face it, i'm not going to buy a notebook which costs more than ten freakin' thousand ringgit. That is seriously insane.

Nevertheless, i'm really psyched about my new notebook! I chose the one in Seashell White (why don't they just call it white!) but it's actually more of a silverish white. The outside is totaly silver but on the inside, it's white. I was actually considering between three colours: Green, Black and White. It took me a couple minutes until I finally decided on the White one to match with my iPod. They DO match!

The notebook comes with Windows Vista which by the way I find it to be very interesting. It was tricky at first, but i'm getting the hang of it. The display screen is totaly awesome. It's a little glossy and it's the wide screen version (which i've never had before). The sound system is a little too soft for my taste but it's satisfactory. The keypad: Love it! Nicely spaced out, great to type on. It also comes with a memory card reader, how great is that! In general, I really like it...obviously.
Looky here:

-The box it came in

-The Vaio's external shell

-A peek inside

-Once it's switched on

-VAIO (I love the logo!)

I love my new Toy! But I anticipate that I will have some headaches over it when the time comes for me to transfer all my data from the old computer. Especially when I have to start up iTunes, insert my songs in and manually key in the details which is a bitch to do. And plus I have to find a reliable anti-virus programme. Wait, scratch that...I have to find a reliable free anti-virus programme. Then I have to download...oh, just a few thousand other programmes and softwares for me to be able to do thing-a-ma-jigs and thing-a-ma-bobs (Trust me, i'm no computer whiz kid compared to my friends). Great...I can feel the headache looming ahead.

When I brought the Vaio home, my mum was looking at me funny. So I said "WHAT?" And mum went "It's okay for you to smile now." And she was right coz it was difficult for me to control over my joy and glee and I ended up smiling in a stupidly pathetic way for the rest of the day. God my face hurts now. Hehe!

Hit & Run

I am so dead. Infact, i'm deader than dead. Today, I drove out to get some lunch and drop my aunt at the hair salon. I turned into a lane and I realised I was going the wrong way and moments later, a car was coming at me from the direction I was haeding to. So I decided to do a 3-point-turn and that's when i accidentally hit a parked motorcycle. Key word being 'accidentally'. Like I said, i'm so dead.

The motorcycle was parked and unattended. I waited a while but there was no one who came to claim it. There were people who I believe saw the incident. So, I decided to drive away. And I still can't believe I did that.

Of course I checked on the motorcycle first before leaving. There was a minor scratch on it, but the damage on my car was worse. Ironic, I know. But it's not as bad compared to the accident as I had last year lah. And that's pretty much why i'm so dead dead.

But right now, i'm just so wrapped up in guilt. It's the worst feeling in the world apart from the feeling of anger and animosity towards myself for not being more observant. So now am i supposed to just move and put aside this incident and then sooner or later let reality sneak up on me and bite me in the tushy? Or should I sulk on the moment and let the guilt engulf me whole as I dive head-first into an endless pit of depression?

What should I do?

Attack of the sequels

This year, there are so many freaking sequals that have been and are going to be released that I have lost count. Seriously, there's Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Carribean 3, Shrek 3, Ocean's Thirteen, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Harry Potter 5, Evan Almighty, Die Hard 4.0, National Treasure: Book of Secrets and the list goes on...Is this the year of the sequels or what!?

So, on Wednesday, I watched Shrek the third with Mei Zhi and Sandra at Queensbay. The movie was okay I guess. Not that fantastic. My sister was right, the plot was not so good. Well basically, I didn't like it as much as I had anticipated. In the cinema, Mei Zhi was seated on the left followed by Sandra and then me. There were these two aunties sitting beside Mei Zhi and she was complaining about the smell of the food those aunties were eating. So I was like "Why don't you shift next to me coz there's an empty seat here." And so she did. Halfway into the movie, there was this kid who was constantly kicking Sandra's seat from behind. And she got irritated that she switched to the seat Mei Zhi originally sat. I gotta say ...there was a lot of seat switching in there.

We lunched at the Dragon-i restaurant. I must say, very expensive food. I had a smoked duck ramen meal which costs 12 ringgit. But the duck meat was good. I really like duck. Good duck. Duck, duck, duck. I hope you get the picture already! The waiters in there were only speaking Mandarin and I was so glad that Mei Zhi was there. When the waiter was talking, Sandra and I looked at each other stupidly. Sad case. I should've learned Mandarin.

Then, I got this month's issue of GQ from Borders bookstore but then Sandra was unwilling to go into the store coz apparently there is this lecturer who is totaly creepy and unprofessional for trying to...you know what, i'm not going to go into it coz it's not my story to tell. But in the end she went in with us. So I was paying for the magazine (with Jessica Alba on the front cover) when Sandra called me ham sap for buying it in front of the cashier! I am NOT letting this go yet!! Grrrrr...woof!

Then off to shopping! We went to here, there and everywhere. We spent most of our time at the Padini store. The two of them tried out so many clothes! God...it was almost excruciating to watch...kidding! But yeah, Mei Zhi was trying on the same item in all the colours and sizes they have. And Sandra was trying out another item also in all the colours they featured. She kept saying "I so hate you all for dragging me in here" because she found something she really liked.

Sandra said "Should I buy it, should I buy it?" and Mei Zhi was all "Do these match, do these match?" And together they said "Do I look good, do I look good?" So I went all like "Yes you should and yes you do...Yes your legs are long and No your cleavage isn't showing...Yes you should definitely buy it! You know you want to..." And in the end we left the store with their wallets slightly lighter and my feet slightly sorer. We spent a total of 7 hours and 45 minutes at the mall and that was our day there.

For more detailed accounts of our outing check Mei Zhi's and Sandra's posts.

On Friday, I went out with Zhi Xiang to watch Ocean's Thirteen and Queensbay. (I know Queensbay again, but I like it there coz the cinema seats have more leg-room compared ot the one at Gurney) The movie: Not bad. Not bad at all. I liked the show but not as much as the first one. But it was worth watching. This sequel features Al Pacino but unfortunately, no Julia Roberts.
We were walking around and there was this Panasonic promotion at the centre court and I saw this uber-huge plasma TV. It was HUMONGOUS! 103 inches! Yikes! I wish I had that in my living room...though i'm not sure whether it'll fit.
- one huge-ass TV

We also went into the newly opened Quicksilver outlet. I think it was the opening day. To you Quicksilver lovers out there, they are having an opening sale: 30% off all merchandise until tomorrow! I didn't buy anything though coz i'm being barred from shopping...financial reasons. Don't ask! Zhi Xiang had to drag me away from the Quicksilver shop becaase he didn't want me to give into temptation. I went "I hate you! I hate you!" But at the end of the day, i'm glad he did so.
