Attack of the sequels

This year, there are so many freaking sequals that have been and are going to be released that I have lost count. Seriously, there's Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Carribean 3, Shrek 3, Ocean's Thirteen, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Harry Potter 5, Evan Almighty, Die Hard 4.0, National Treasure: Book of Secrets and the list goes on...Is this the year of the sequels or what!?

So, on Wednesday, I watched Shrek the third with Mei Zhi and Sandra at Queensbay. The movie was okay I guess. Not that fantastic. My sister was right, the plot was not so good. Well basically, I didn't like it as much as I had anticipated. In the cinema, Mei Zhi was seated on the left followed by Sandra and then me. There were these two aunties sitting beside Mei Zhi and she was complaining about the smell of the food those aunties were eating. So I was like "Why don't you shift next to me coz there's an empty seat here." And so she did. Halfway into the movie, there was this kid who was constantly kicking Sandra's seat from behind. And she got irritated that she switched to the seat Mei Zhi originally sat. I gotta say ...there was a lot of seat switching in there.

We lunched at the Dragon-i restaurant. I must say, very expensive food. I had a smoked duck ramen meal which costs 12 ringgit. But the duck meat was good. I really like duck. Good duck. Duck, duck, duck. I hope you get the picture already! The waiters in there were only speaking Mandarin and I was so glad that Mei Zhi was there. When the waiter was talking, Sandra and I looked at each other stupidly. Sad case. I should've learned Mandarin.

Then, I got this month's issue of GQ from Borders bookstore but then Sandra was unwilling to go into the store coz apparently there is this lecturer who is totaly creepy and unprofessional for trying to...you know what, i'm not going to go into it coz it's not my story to tell. But in the end she went in with us. So I was paying for the magazine (with Jessica Alba on the front cover) when Sandra called me ham sap for buying it in front of the cashier! I am NOT letting this go yet!! Grrrrr...woof!

Then off to shopping! We went to here, there and everywhere. We spent most of our time at the Padini store. The two of them tried out so many clothes! God...it was almost excruciating to watch...kidding! But yeah, Mei Zhi was trying on the same item in all the colours and sizes they have. And Sandra was trying out another item also in all the colours they featured. She kept saying "I so hate you all for dragging me in here" because she found something she really liked.

Sandra said "Should I buy it, should I buy it?" and Mei Zhi was all "Do these match, do these match?" And together they said "Do I look good, do I look good?" So I went all like "Yes you should and yes you do...Yes your legs are long and No your cleavage isn't showing...Yes you should definitely buy it! You know you want to..." And in the end we left the store with their wallets slightly lighter and my feet slightly sorer. We spent a total of 7 hours and 45 minutes at the mall and that was our day there.

For more detailed accounts of our outing check Mei Zhi's and Sandra's posts.

On Friday, I went out with Zhi Xiang to watch Ocean's Thirteen and Queensbay. (I know Queensbay again, but I like it there coz the cinema seats have more leg-room compared ot the one at Gurney) The movie: Not bad. Not bad at all. I liked the show but not as much as the first one. But it was worth watching. This sequel features Al Pacino but unfortunately, no Julia Roberts.
We were walking around and there was this Panasonic promotion at the centre court and I saw this uber-huge plasma TV. It was HUMONGOUS! 103 inches! Yikes! I wish I had that in my living room...though i'm not sure whether it'll fit.

We also went into the newly opened Quicksilver outlet. I think it was the opening day. To you Quicksilver lovers out there, they are having an opening sale: 30% off all merchandise until tomorrow! I didn't buy anything though coz i'm being barred from shopping...financial reasons. Don't ask! Zhi Xiang had to drag me away from the Quicksilver shop becaase he didn't want me to give into temptation. I went "I hate you! I hate you!" But at the end of the day, i'm glad he did so.

When Someone Shops

There was like this massive jam which clotted up traffic on Saturday!! Absolutely enormous!! Apparently, it was caused by this mishap on Penang bridge in the afternoon and resulted in a flow-on effect which lasted until midnight. I got stuck at Farquhar Street for like 30 mins when I passed by at 4.30pm!! But thank god I escaped before I got caught in it for good. Here are some pics of the jam at night in Pulau Tikus:

-Note : it's only supposed to be a single line on either side

Yesterday (Sunday), I didn't do much except doin' some reading, watchin' some TV ... you know regular stuff. However, at night, Al kinda asked me to go out for a brisk walk by Gurney Drive, and so I did. But it turned ugly when he 'kidnapped' me and made it into a 'joy-ride' and we ended up at Bt. Feringghi. Sad...but true. I got home at around midnight! But I did manage to buy a few cd's though: Alanis Morrisette, Fergie and Gwen. Anybody interested to borrow them??

Today, I hung out with Gim Ming and Jeff. Movie Day. What did we watch (for free) you ask? Accepted of course. Not a bad show. Not so much a laugh-until-you-can't-control-yourself-and-wanna-suffocate-to-death kinda show but it makes you think of what you really wanna study in college and what you really wanna be when you grow up. For me: Well, i'd like to study something to do with food, fashion & trends and maybe architectural design. My dream job? An actor. I know it's a bit out there and I am the furthest thing from being an actor...but it's really my dream.

But the most amazing thing which happened today was when Jeff and I were shopping around. It happened all of a sudden and totaly out of the blue and everything. It was so unexpected: Jeff bought an item of clothing. Ya I know, anti-climax much but i'll tell you, this is the first time i've seen him buying clothes! Honest!! Rare occassion indeed and I have proof (inject sinister laugh):

- jaw dropping event

Other than that, I did manage to buy the new issue of...yes that's right: GQ December Issue!!!

Al least I have something to occupy myself with when i'm bored.

Gotta love the Mag!

The last couple of days have been the same for me, relax, relax and yes, relax. If you're thinking i'm just wasting my precious time away, well, you couldn't be more wrong. I completed an application to another university (RMIT) when I was at Inti yester, I managed to update myself by standing in bookshops of Gurney Plaza and flipping through magazines (that way, I don't have to pay for them) and i've even read a fictional novel and I plan to maybe read more if time permits me to do so.

Alright, back to the magazine thing. I absolutely love to read magazines! Love 'em to death!!! It's a bible which gets updated every other month and with so many different kinds. Men's Folio, GQ, Details...love 'em all!!! Thank god for their existance or else WHAT AM I TO READ!!! Magazines are like (and I quote) "a shinning beacon of hope."

All hail the carefully constructed flow of information and articles and the pictures arranged in such a way to tempt and tantilize. And they all converge in such a way as to become an all-inspiring book of wisdom handing out tips on fashion, style news and beyond! Okay, I'm exaggerating a little. But unfortunately, I certainly can't buy all of them and most of them come slightly pricey. Bummer. So, that's why I now prefer to go to some Popular or MPH bookstore and read them up without paying...and ooohh yeah, the air-conditioning's free too!

Today I went to Prangin Mall for a little shop, shop, shop with Damien and Jeff. Nice to see Damien after so long. Chris was supposed to be there too but apparently he tried to call us several times but my cell was in my bag (so I couldn't hear it ring) and in the end, he kinda went home. Sorry 'bout that! But anyway, we did go here and there and looked for stuff to buy. But we only purchased some accessories and no clothes at all...sad right?

It seems to me that Prangin Mall is just not what it was like last time, when bargains were rife and everyone was bound to buy loads and loads. Sure, there are promotions a bit but most of the clothes were plain UGLY! You really gotta go through all of them to be able to find an item of clothing which suits you and it's really not even worth buying something not on sale since a brand new item from any non-branded store is priced about the same as an item of a better well-known brand (in terms of quality and style too).
