They were seated around a table at the place Sophia dubbed as "the Chinese Stalls". They were engaged in amicable conversation, narrating stories of their events, outings and details of their relaxation activities in the past holiday month. I joined them, ordering a plate of Chicken rice. You'd think I've had enough Chicken rice back in Penang just a week earlier, but I like Chicken rice. Somehow, I like KL-style chicken rice. Our topic changed to our results from last semester's subjects. Comparing grades, and wondering who got what.I take a second look at them all. Everyone of them still looks the same. Only a few changes here and there. Kar Weng has a generous mop of hair now. Pam coloured hers. Jon's hasn't moved since July 0f 2007. Everyone looked great.
Under the shadow of the umbrella that shields us from the scorching sun looming overhead, we started to groan about the impending workload that is destined for each and everyone of us. We groaned about the assignments. We whined about the mind boggling tasks. We bitched about the sleepless nights. I thought to myself, "the new semester has
officially started."
My mind drifted away from their conversation. Their voices faded to a minimal in my mind. I started to worry about the subjects that I have chosen. I'm taking 5 classes but only 2 of those are the same as the ones that they are taking. "Do I really want to seperate from them?" I thought deep and hard. I've really grown attached to them. What should I do?
