Labourer

I'm now doing my internship unpaid internship which is totaly sad. UNPAID. Whoever said it's not all about the money was probably an unpaid intern and an idiot. I need the moolah! I need to get petrol to get to the office, I need to eat food, I NEED ENTERTAINMENT TO KEEP MY SANITY. Now I know why some working people looks forward so much to lunch time or the end of working hours.

This intership thingy is only gonna last a month. I'm doing it coz instead of rotting at home, I can rot at the firm. Hopefully I can pick some things up. So rot away, I say!

A Slice of Paradise

Clear blue skies, white soft sandy beaches, sparkling crystal clear waters...that could only mean one thing: Tioman

My very first vacation to the East coast of Malaysia was phenomenal. Tioman Island was everything I expected and more. The people were laidback, friendly and it seems as though time didn't really matter there. Everyday was just another day of unperturbed relaxation. But not so much for me. I was there to take my scuba diving license and as of now...you're looking at an officially licensed scuba diver! Whoo-hoo!!!

The diving lessons were okay. We did various exercizes to get used to the scuba equipment and controlling yourself while submerged underwater. They were not as easy as I thought they would be but we pulled it off. I mean like when I was underwater at a depth of nearly 20 meters and when I look up, I can see and even feel just how far am I from sea-level that it's kinda freaky. Everything was so quiet down there and with limited vision due to the snorkel mask plus the pressure I feel squeezing my body, I felt like I was really putting my body through alot. Also, the water down there was like cold and due the the conduction and convection and all that, I was practically shivering in my suit.

And as for the whole diving experiance by the coral reefs...well, you hear about it from people, you read about it in magazines and you watch it on TV, but when you actually go through it yourself first-handedly, it's UH-mazing! Really fantastic. It's a whole other alien-worldly experience. The underwater life you see right before your eyes swimming, living just inches from your skin. It's f-ing unbelievable. There were all sorts of marine life, schools of fish, soft-coral, sea-urchins, sea cucumbers, barracudas, huge ass bumper head fish and more.

Too bad we didn't have an underwater camera otherwise we would have probably taken pictures while on our diving expedition. But the dive instructor did have his and managed to snap a few shots. Let's just hope he sends it my way *crosses fingers*. However, we did snap pictures overwater with a conventional digital camera of Tioman. And I think I prefer to let you guys view the pictures instead of boring you out with my prolonger chatter:

- our first view of the beach.

- hammocks were aplenty to suit the laidback lifestyle.

- our scuba diving gear, which by the way, weighs 20 f-ing kgs. When you strap it on, you can't stand straight otherwise you'll probably tip over. Imagine carrying the gear around on your back for an hour, three times a day for two days. I believe the one on the left with the blue flippers were my set.

- The diving suit: NOT flattering. This was how I had to carry the bloody heavy gear. Just think: I had to lug the damn thing all the way to the beach for shore dives and lug it onto a boat during boat dives. The boat dive was pretty cool though 'coz we got to do the backroll into the sea...the kinda you see on TV. The only thing was that I got seasick on the boat which kept bobbing up and down, swaying left and right in all directions. No, I didn't barf. Note to self: stock up on motion sickness pills.

- My sister and I, by the jetty at nightfall.

- Swaying coconut trees offset by the moonlight.

- Crystalline waters.

- The beach had many picturesque spots.

- Sun, sand, water...what could be better?

This trip would never have been realized with out my sister, who not only planned the trip and drove us there, she also covered all of my expenses for this vacation as my birthday present...so this calls for a big
.

THANK YOU JAYME!!! This is probably THE best present i've ever gotten!!!

Gracias

Okay...I have this theory. Well, it's more like hope-slash-self-denial-slash-wishful thinking. It's that if you don't celebrate your birthday and blow out any candles...you DON'T grow a year older! This means i'm still nineteen and will remain that way forevah!!! Muahaha

So...i'll remain nineteen until the next time I blow out my next two candles which will happen in....NEVER. So, apart from clarifying with you my being forever nineteen, i'd still like to thank the people who sent me birthday wishes and whatnots regardless of the fact that I have not yet aged. Here goes:

Thank Yous* to:

Zhi Xiang
Ivan T.
Sophia
Jeffrey M.
Mei Zhi
Wye Sern
Alvin T.
Khang May
Karen H.
Yong Ming
Mohan
Lee Xin
Kok Ling
Gim Ming
Sandra T.

*this list is in no particular order.

Thank you very much and I really hope I didn't miss out anyone.

PS: I'm leaving for Tioman tomorrow. Yes, i'll be going on vacation with my sister to the island for a three night thing over there. Thus, I won't be able to blog from there. So, until next week!

Back on Track

Yes, I was rambling in the previous post, but you must understand as I was transitioning between the very hectic and exciting life that is KL to the more laid-back Penang style. All I needed to do was to blow off some steam and now i'm back on track. Ready as ever to step up and take charge and live my life. All I had to do was to catch a flick!

+ Iron Man

Iron Man sure did the trick! I'm not a marvel comics fan but this movie sure got me enthralled. Finally...a movie worth watching this year!!! At first I was abit skeptical about Robert Downey Jr. playing the part of a superhero but he executed it to perfection. Gwyneth Paltrow was also great and lets not forget the kick-ass Iron Man suit! I'd say this movie has a good balance of drama, suspense, ass-kicking scenes and humour. So, go watch it!

Back and brooding

So i'm back home in Penang and will be here for the next three months, which is the span of my holidays. And holidays will once again see me in a very active state of rotting at home. I know i've been looking forward to this much deserved break and everything, but only one week into it and I already feel I could use some work to do. I should use this free time to do stuff. You know... positive, benefiting stuff. Stuff that would keep me occupied throughout my spare time to prevent me from pacing around (which I tend to do alot at home). Or maybe I should just laze around. I mean I probably won't have any room to do that in the coming semesters, why not do it now? This could be my chance to eat, sleep, do number two and try my best to gain weight.

I've been raving about coming back home since before my exams begun. And I am happy about returning home but, I think i've slightly gotten accustomed to the KL-life. Well at least I think I do. My perception of the KL-life equals to work on Mondays through Friday and weekends are pretty much spent shopping and hanging out in malls. I'm not saying it's bad or anything...there's just one tiny little problem now that i'm back in Penang...there are no malls. Yeh yeh I know there's Gurney and Queensbay but that's just about it! Nothing more. No One U, No Midvalley, No Gardens, No KLCC, No Pavilion. Hell, Penang needs more malls. Am I rambling? I think i'm just rambling.

So, back to my very tight schedule of boredom, i'm still here, bored as hell on a Wednesday night with no where to go and no one to go out with. It's just one of those feelings I tend to get once in a while where i'm all jumpy and feel like I could run a thousand miles and yet i'm stuck at home staring at the computer screen, typing that i'm staring at the computer screen, and now thinking how idiotic and sad I must be to type what i've just typed. And now if you'll excuse me, i'd like to get back to brooding...
